Great news coming out of Säbener Straße today as Jerome Boateng has returned to the training pitch, albeit only for a light jogging session.
Boateng sustained an adductor injury during the Rückrunde opener vs Hamburg on January 22nd and has been sidelined ever since. A post on fcb.de states that Boateng is targeting a return to team training some time in April.
When Mario Götze went down with his adductor injury on October 8th, he didn't return to team training until February 1st, a span of 117 days. Assuming Boateng's target date in April is somewhere in the middle of the month, lets say April 15th, his injury will have cost him about 85 days, a whole 32 days less than Götze.
While a return to team training doesn't mean he will return to the lineup immediately, a return to game action that once seemed unlikely now looks very possible. With the semi finals of the champions league taking place on the 26th and 27th of April (1st leg) and the 3rd and 4th of May (2nd leg), he may be able to contribute if Bayern make it that far. At the very least, he'll likely be ready for the Euro's, barring any major setbacks.
