While Bayern Munich were in Turin for their Champions League match against Juventus, Michael Reschke spent a little more time in Italy than the rest of the club. The Bayern technical director attended at least three different Serie A matches in order to scout a couple of different players.
The games in question were Bologna vs. Juventus at the Stadio Renato Dall'Ara, Inter vs Sampdoria at the San Siro, and Napoli vs Milan at the Stadio San Paolo.
Midfielder Amadou Diawara was the target in Bologna. The 18 year old Guinean has reportedly been scouted by Bayern for some time now. He was heavily linked to the club during the winter transfer window, but no move was made for the €10 million man. This is his first full professional season with Bologna; however, he is reportedly being chased by several big clubs throughout Europe.
Centerback has been a position of never-ending futility at Bayern since Pep Guardiola arrived at the club. Injuries at inopportune times have seen Bayern go from four healthy centerbacks to none. Reschke's trip in Italy took him to scout 31 year old Inter defender João Miranda. The Brazilian made the move to Inter this summer after four fantastic years with Atletico Madrid.
Reschke's trip to Napoli was to scout right back Elseid Hysaj. The Napoli defender has been mentioned before in the same breath with Bayern, as the club considers life without Philipp Lahm. The Albanian made the move from Empoli in the summer and is considered to be one of the best young players in all of Serie A.
Since Matthias Sammer brought Reschke on board in Munich, the club has moved forward in professionalizing and expanding their scouting efforts around the world. With Carlo Ancelotti joining Bayern this summer, it's expected that the club will be active in buying and selling in the transfer market.
