Sami Khedira ruled out for several weeks with hamstring injury

Things are kind of balancing out.

Juventus star midfielder Sami Khedira has been ruled out for the next 2-3 weeks after picking up a hamstring injury. The German international was injured during Juventus's beatdown of Chievo over the weekend and was substituted at halftime. He will be joining former Bayern Munich forward Mario Mandzukic on the sidelines.

According to the Juventus website:

Absent from tomorrow's assignment at Juventus Stadium is Sami Khedira. After reporting continued discomfort in his right thigh after the game against Chievo, the midfielder underwent a series of medical tests. These revealed a torn adductor longus muscle which is expected to keep Khedira sidelined for two to three weeks.

With the first leg of the Champions League tie between the teams three weeks away, it's not a guarantee yet that Khedira will miss any actual gametime. However, with Juventus hosting the first match, they could rest Khedira for the return leg in Munich.

Stefano Sturaro has proven to be a suitable replacement for Khedira at times in the Juve midfield, but he doesn't bring the same bite of dynamism that Khedira does. If Juve are without Khedira, expect FCB to find the battle in the midfield even more to their liking.
