Bayern Munich Frauen have secured the services of the club's number one for the next two years. The club announced on Thursday that Tinja-Riikka Korpela has signed an extension that will keep her in Munich through the end of the 2017-18 season. Her contract was set to expire this summer.

"I'm happy to be able to continue with this world class team that is FC Bayern," Korpela said. "I feel we're not ‘done' yet. I really believe this team has the potential to win more titles both in Germany and in Europe."

In the fall, Bayern were knocked out of the UEFA Women's Champions League by FC Twente on away goals. The result surely still stings for the players, as they were missing several starters for the tie due to injuries.

"Tinni is a very professional and experienced goalkeeper who consistently delivers good performances. She has an important presence on the pitch and lends our game a sense of calmness and stability," coach Thomas Wörle said. "I'm happy she'll be playing for FC Bayern Munich for the next two years."

So far this season, Korpela has played in 16 matches for Bayern in all competitions, posting 11 clean sheets, and allowing only 6 goals.
