Holger Badstuber fractured his ankle in practice today. What in the name of all that is holy in this world is wrong with the Bayern Munich centerback corps?
Badstuber will miss at three months according to the club which places his return sometime in the middle of May. Notably this is also when the season ends. After losing most of the past three-and-a-half years of his career to injury, Badstuber is going to lose that last half a season. Does anyone remember a player who missed near a half-a-decade of their soccer playing life to injury alone?
Between this, Martinez's knee injury, Benatia's chronic injury woes, and Boateng's adductor tear, this leaves the four primary centerbacks for Bayern Munich completely out of the picture in the short term. While emergency recruit Serdar Tasci has recovered from his concussion -- and it seems likely he'll feature for Bayern Munich tomorrow -- the team will have to avail itself of the talents of Joshua Kimmich as the main centerback on this team for the forseeable future.
Is anyone else starting to feel like this season is completely cursed?
