It's a defensive reinforcement.

Bayern Munich have announced the signing of Serdar Tasci on loan for the remainder of the season. The German champions will hold an option to buy the Spartak Moscow defender at the end of the season for a reported €10 million.

Tasci has plenty of Bundesliga experience having been with Stuttgart as a young boy. He rose through the ranks there becoming a regular first team player from 2006-2013, winning the Bundesliga in his first season. Tasci would captain the club for his final two seasons before an eventual transfer in the summer of 2014 to Spartak Moscow.

The defender made a cameo appearance for Germany at the 2010 World Cup but has been unable to turn his solid professional career into anything of significant note on the international scene.

The move is an important one for FC Bayern, as it gives the club a little more flexibility in the second half of the season on the defensive side of things. At 28 years of age, Tasci has enough experience that slotting him into any Bundesliga league match will not be an issue. It will be interesting, however, to see if Pep Guardiola rates Tasci high enough to test him on the European level with Champions League matches coming hot and heavy soon over the next couple of months.
