It’s been a pretty great Hinrunde for Bayern Munich. Following Wednesday’s victory over RB Leipzig, the Bavarians now sit at the top of the table. They’ve also secured contract extensions for Robert Lewandowski, Franck Ribery and Rafinha.
The big hold out has been the club’s inability to sign Arjen Robben to a new extension, at least, so far. Rumors have persisted that the two sides have been going back and forth on the length of the extension.
However, it’s starting to look like the two sides are closer than ever to announcing something that everyone wants.
"I believe we can announce a completed deal in January,” Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said. “We're very optimistic about it. Both sides want it; those are good preconditions."
Great news, everyone! Robben has looked like he hasn’t aged a day this season and is playing tremendously well. At his age, signing him to one year extensions is the best way forward for both sides.
