Julian Green has been called back to the United States for two huge upcoming World Cup Qualifiers against Mexico and in Costa Rica. The USA is, once again, putting the Mexico match in Columbus, Ohio where the Mexicans haven’t beaten them in four straight World Cup cycles.
Green was the Americans best player earlier this fall in two friendlies against Cuba and New Zealand, netting two goals and an assist. He followed those performances up with his Bayern Munich debut on the season, netting a goal against Augsburg on a brilliant header.
With his lack of playing time, however, it’s likely that Green will start the matches as a substitute. However, his speed and recent nose-for-goal will greatly aid the USA if they need fresh legs on the field in the attacking third of the field.
USA will play Mexico on November 11 in Columbus and Costa Rica on November 15 in San Jose.
