It’s an important game for Portugal.

Renato Sanches has been named to Portugal’s squad for an upcoming World Cup Qualifier against Latvia. The Bayern Munich midfielder joins his nation for an important qualifier, as they don’t want to risk falling too far behind.

Sanches rose to prominence on the world scene last summer during Euro 2016. Bayern managed to beat all teams to the punch and sign him for a relatively small fee from Benfica before he blew up and stole all of the headlines in France. While Cristiano Ronaldo was struggling to inspire his nation, Sanches hoisted his nation onto his back with timely goals and assists to get them to the Final.

Since joining Bayern, it’s taken Sanches a little bit of time to get into any kind of form. He missed the first month of the season thanks to an injury and has been trying to adjust to Ancelotti’s system since then. It hasn’t been an easy change, but he’s improving game to game.

Portugal will play Latvia in a World Cup Qualifier on November 13 in Algarve.
