Jerome Boateng was substituted out of Bayern Munich’s 1-1 draw with Hoffenheim on Saturday in the 82nd minute. With David Alaba coming in for him, the sub could’ve been seen as a tactical one to get a more offensively-minded player on the field for the Bavarians, but it wasn’t meant to be.
Bayern have announced that Boateng was removed from the match due to knee and adductor injuries. Due to these injuries, Boateng will not be joining Germany during the international break. Instead, he’ll remain in Munich for rehabilitation and rest.
The injury doesn’t appear to be serious, as Boateng neither needed assistance or limped coming off the field. It looks to be nearly a total precautionary move. Holger Badstuber is slowly gaining full fitness and will reportedly play a match with the reserves during the break to help him reach that goal sooner. However, with Javi Martinez already sidelined, Bayern can’t risk any chances.
The first match for Bayern after the international break? They head to Signal Iduna Park for a match against Borussia Dortmund.
