It was announced today that Manuel Neuer was withdrawing from the Germany squad for the upcoming international break. No, he’s not injured. He’s sick. At least, according to the DFB, “he's not feeling 100 per cent”.
Bayern Munich will still be represented by Mats Hummels, Joshua Kimmich, and Thomas Müller on the Germany squad. It is expected that Germany will play Marc-Andre ter Stegen will step in to replace Neuer. The other option is Bernd Leno. Germany needs Manuel back.
Germany will play a World Cup Qualifier against San Marino on November 11 in Serravalle and a friendly against Italy on November 15 in Milan.
Jogi Löw could play a his regular or experimental lineup in the match against San Marino, as the Germans are sure to take all three points. The Italy match is a meaningless friendly, so it really doesn’t matter what Löw does or does not choose to do.
