On Friday, the United States and Cuba played a friendly in Havana. While it wasn’t the prettiest match that you’ll ever see, Bayern Munich’s Julian Green was given the start by Jurgen Klinsmann out wide on the right in a rather attacking 4-4-2.
Green was one of the best players on the field throughout the match and managed to grab a goal for his efforts on the day in the 2-0 victory. He actually contributed to the opening goal by Chris Wondolowski. Green’s shot forced a diving save out of the Cuban goalkeeper who pushed the ball directly into the path of Wondolowski.
Overall, Green was very energetic having the most shots in the match and was able to regularly get himself into dangerous positions to affect the match. Here’s video of his goal.
Green and the United States will head to RFK Stadium in Washington DC next week for another friendly against New Zealand.
