Renato Sanches will make his triumphant return to the Portuguese national team this week for two upcoming World Cup Qualifiers. Those qualifiers are against the weakest team in the group, but Sanches will be in the squad regardless.
He’s not the only one returning to the squad since recovering from injury. Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo will also be making his return to the Portugal squad for the first time since pulling himself out of the Euro 2016 Final after suffering a knee injury.
Sanches went from “He’ll get some minutes in France.” to “He’s an integral part of this team.” during the Euro 2016 tournament. With timely goals and assists, he helped lift Portugal to an improbable Final when many of the star players failed to show up and make an impact on the big stage.
Portugal play Andorra on October 7 in Aveiro and Faroe Islands on October 10 in Torshavn.
