Hopefully, this is just a precaution.

Javi Martinez left Bayern Munich’s match with Augsburg on Saturday after only half an hour with no real apparent injury. Carlo Ancelotti brought on Mats Hummels to partner with Jerome Boateng in the center of defense.

Martinez jogged off the field on his own and wasn’t displaying any real signs of affliction when he left the match. He appeared to be motioning toward his left leg as he approached the sideline.

With his long injury history, Martinez likely knows, at this point, that it’s not smart to push yourself too much when anything feels “off”. The hope will be that the entire incident is just a precaution, as Martinez knows his body better than anyone.

It’s a very busy month for Bayern with seven games in four weeks before the players depart for another international break. Bayern will play away in the Netherlands midweek against PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League.

We’ll keep you updated on the situation.
