This was a good break for Green

This was quite the good international break for Julian Green. The Bayern Munich man received a call-up by the United States for two friendlies against Cuba and New Zealand, and he made the absolute most of it.

Receiving the start in both matches, Green grabbed a goal in both games (see the goal against Cuba) and was generally one of if not the best player on the field for the Americans in both games.

While he hasn’t been given an opportunity by Carlo Ancelotti in the Bundesliga yet (obviously Cuba and New Zealand are well below the quality of Bundesliga teams), Green definitely looks far improved than he has in past seasons. The biggest difference appears to be his confidence in his own abilities to take on defenders one-one-one.

Here’s the goal that Green scored on Tuesday night against New Zealand. He’s clearly been taking notes in training and learning from Arjen Robben.
