Though he only played in twelve of the seventeen matches, Bayern Munich's Douglas Costa was named the Bundesliga's best player during the first half of the season. Kicker polled 244 players from the 18 first division clubs to determine that the Brazilian was the league's best.
Costa received 30.3% of the votes to take home the prize. Having only been in Munich for six months, Costa was a instant sensation for the Bavarians at the start of the season. He picked up two goals and seven assists in only twelve games during the Hinrunde.
An injury derailed him late in the fall, but he's set to return from the winter break at full strength.
Borussia Dortmund's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang finished in second with 23% of the votes. Third and fourth place were occupied by FC Bayern's Thomas Müller (14.8%) and Robert Lewandowski (10.3%).
Manuel Neuer was also named as the league's best goalkeeper in the first half. He finished with 31.6% of the vote. FC Köln's Timo Horn finished in second place with 11.1%.
