Bayern Munich remain perfect in the Frauen Bundesliga after a 2-0 victory over newly promoted side FC Köln. The win is Bayern's second in as many games and makes them one of only three teams in the league to have won their first two matches.

FCB nearly struck first early in the match through a long distance shot from Leonie Maier. However, Köln goalkeeper Laura Giuliani was able to tip the high shot from going in the goal and caught the descending ball before any other player could get to it.

Köln had a fantastic opportunity to go on top in the 18th minute, but nobody was able to get onto the end of an extremely dangerous cross that was cleared out to set FC Bayern on the attack.

The opening goal came from the head of defender Nora Holstad. She broke free of some poor marking from Köln and headed Melanie Behringer's cross into the back of the net to give Bayern the 1-0 lead.

In the second half, Bayern saw more of the ball as Köln waited for their opportunity to counter. Sara Däbritz was having none of that and decided to take matters into her own hands. With a left footed rip from outside the box, Däbritz deposited the ball into the lower right hand corner to put FCB on top 2-0.

Bayern would come close to scoring  few more goals but were unable to convert on any of their opportunities.

The victory keeps Bayern in a three way tie at the top of the table on points with Wolfsburg and Frankfurt. Wolfsburg, however, is currently heading the table with a superior goal differential.

The reigning champions will take the field again on Friday in Munich against Wolfsburg!
