As a reserve player, the one thing that you can always do to improve your place in the squad is to take advantage of all of your opportunities. Saturday against SV Darmstadt, Sebastian Rode did his best to grab those opportunities and meet them head on.
With the game still in the balance, Rode took it upon himself to secure all three points for Bayern. He found Kinglsey Coman with a pass, and the young Frenchman scored his first goal for FC Bayern. Then, only a minute later, Rode scored his own rebound to give Bayern a commanding 3-0 lead and put the match out of reach.
Since he joined the club in the summer of 2014, it would be tough to find another player that has taken more advantage of their opportunities off the bench than Rode. Pep Guardiola has expressed his appreciation for what Rode brings to FC Bayern.
Rode's future at Bayern Munich likely doesn't include more than "spot starter", but if he's able to continue to make the most out of those opportunities, FCB won't see any drop off in quality.
