Bayern Munich will attempt to win their fifth Bundesliga match to start the season on Saturday with a visit to Darmstadt. The newly promoted side will be the heavy underdogs in the match, but they play the games for a reason.
Through their first four games in their first Bundesliga season in over thirty years, Darmstadt are one of four clubs in the league without a loss on their record. While three of those matches are draws, their one victory on the season came last weekend on the road at Bayer Leverkusen. They have shown that they won't go down without a fight.
Yes, Bayern remain perfect through all competitions so far in the early season, but it hasn't been the best run of performances. Controlling matches through overbearing possession and earning attempts on goal are one thing, but finishing more en masse is another. More goals are in this Bayern team, they just have to find the key to unlock them.
Robert Lewandowski is set to miss Bayern's trip to Darmstadt with a minor injury he picked up midweek in the Champions League against Olympiacos. With an upcoming midweek match against Wolfsburg in the cards, giving Lewa time to completely heal is the best option for all parties.
Once the lineups are released, this thread will be updated.
