The group stage of the 2014/2015 UEFA Champions League kicks off today. With a host of Europe's best, and most upcoming sides, this year's group stage featured a new draw format that has given us some truly exciting groups that we need to be keeping our eyes on.

Group A

Paris Saint-Germain vs. FC Malmo

Real Madrid vs. Shaktar Donetsk

Let's get this one out of the way first: Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are going to win this group. Donetsk should finish third and Malmo are in all likelihood going to get repeatedly stomped on. It's not often you see a group with this degree of talent stratification, but it's a nice reason now to just skip over the Group A matches. Unless that is you really want to do some early scouting for the knockout rounds.

Group B

PSV Eindhoven vs. Manchester United

Wolfsburg's road to the knockouts might easily turn into one of the most entertaining groups in the Champions League. With Manchester United stocked with talent but sputtering, and the talents present in Moscow and Eindhoven these days, this is a great test for Wolfsburg in so far as where they fall on the European spectrum. Do they belong with the upper echelon clubs like Manchester United, or with the rest of Europe's perennial has runs?

Group C

Galatasaray vs. Atletico Madrid

Benfica vs. Astana

Group C is another highly competitive group. With three clubs in Galatasaray, Atletico Madrid, and Benfica all being knockouts stage contenders, this should be a highly entertaining group that comes with one massive wrinkle. Because everyone has to make the trip to Astana, Kazakhstan at some point.

Group D

Manchester City vs. Juventus

Sevilla vs. Borussia Mönchengladbach

A resurgent Manchester City sporting the brilliance of Kevin de Bruyne: a floundering Juventus without Arturo Vidal and Andrea Pirlo: the back-to-back Europa League champions: and 37-year absentee and defensive specialists Borussia Mönchegladbach. Group D might be the biggest crapshoot of the first four groups and at this point, it's anyone's guess who this could go. Will Juventus  turn it around soon enough? Can 'Gladbach stifle everybody en route to snagging a couple wins and a few draws, or will there early season failures continue? Can Sevilla make the jump from Europa League smashers to the Champions League like the Atletico Madrid of several years ago?
