10-Man Bayern Munich II Keeps Munich Derby Scoreless

Despite being down a man, Vogel was impressed with the result of his first Munich derby.

Bayern Munich II drew their second consecutive match to start their 2015/16 Regionalliga Bayern season, holding off TSV 1860 Munich II with ten men.

Felix Pohl, playing in his second ever match with the reserves, was sent off just before halftime. With Bayern II playing down a man, head coach Heiko Vogel brought on defender Yannick Günzel for Fabian Benko as the reserves were able to keep the clean sheet.

"I am satisfied that we held the clean sheet," Heiko Vogel told the club website after the match. "In the second passage we threw everything on the tray that was available to us physically. We were better shorthanded than we were at full strength."

Julian Green made his second start with the reserve, playing a full shift on the left flank next to fellow Profi Gianluca Gaudino. Niklas Dorsch, Patrick Puchegger, Steeven Ribéry, and Leopold Zingerle remain sidelined with injuries.

After two tough matches against perennial Regionalliga Bayern rivals, Bayern face traditional bottom-feeders Rain am Lech on Saturday. While only with two points on the season, the kleine Bayern have two matches in had on top-of-the-table Jahn Regensburg.
