Bayern Munich are set to honor club and Bundesliga legend Claudio Pizarro before the match against Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday. Pizarro's contract with FC Bayern expired at the end of last season, and he has yet to find a new team to continue his playing career.
Pizarro is unquestionably one of the greatest forwards to ever ply his trade in Germany's top division. And, while he's ninth in the league's all-time goal-scoring charts, there will always be the great "What if Pizarro never left Germany?" question surrounding his spot in the list. Would he have grabbed third place? Second?
Pizarro will be given a bouquet of flowers on the field while a highlight package of his career in red will be shown on the video boards in the stadium. In addition, the FC Bayern museum will have some additional Pizarro-related exhibits.
Will the Peruvian continue his footballing career? It remains to be seen at this point. Rumors have abounded regarding his future, but nothing to this point has worked out.
