During the club's summer trip to China, Bayern Munich's board was working to decide what major city they would place the club's office. After visiting Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou, the club has chosen Shanghai as the anchor for Bayern's Asian expansion.

"We sat down together as a board during the China tour in July, analyzed, and then decided: Bayern Munich goes to Shanghai," said FCB's head of internationalization and strategy Jörg Wacker. In an interview with Handelsblatt, Wacker emphasized Shanghai's location in being roughly two hours from every other major Chinese city.

Since opening their office in New York City, Bayern have worked exceptionally hard to engage their fans via social media and expand their fan base in the United States. To date, it has been very successful.

As FC Bayern continues becoming more and more of a global superpower in football, one must wonder where this global outreach goes next. Rio de Janeiro? Johannesburg? Mumbai?
