Things started poorly for Bayern Munich against Hoffenheim after giving up a goal just nine seconds into the game. Then, the team somehow managed to take another blow. We thought that the injury situation was getting better, but it appears that it's going to get worse before it improves.
Just after the half hour mark, Mehdi Benatia sat down on the field rubbing his right thigh. The trainers came onto the field for treatment. Unfortunately, the big Moroccan centerback could not continue and was removed from the match in favor of Rafinha.
Since joining Bayern from Roma last summer, Benatia has spent as much time on the trainer's table as he has on the field. Last season, he was plagued with back, groin, and thigh injuries that kept him out of action. While the extent of this injury isn't known at this time, it's not a good sign that Benatia is, once again, finding himself watching instead of playing.
