In a very top heavy draw, Bayern Munich drew Wolfsburg in the second round of the DFB-Pokal. The Rekordmeister will have to travel to Wolfsburg for a third time in 2015 at the end of October.
Wolfsburg have defeated Bayern in each of the last two meetings. humiliating the eventual champions 4-1 to kick off the Rückrunde and edging the Rekordmeister in penalty kicks in the DFL-Supercup after a Niklas Bendtner equalizer.
Bayern have drawn Bundesliga opponents in every year of manager Pep Guardiola's tenure, drawing Hannover in 2013 and Hamburger SV in 2014. Four other Bundesliga clubs got paired together, Schalke 04 drawing Borussia Mönchengladbach and Werder Bremen drawing Köln.
Wolfsburg are the current cup holders after they defeated Borussia Dortmund to lift their first DFB-Pokal in club history. Bayern have a very impressive record against Wolfsburg in the cup however, having defeated die Wolfe all four times the two have faced each other. The last meeting was a 6-1 victory for Bayern in 2013, and involved a substitute hat-trick from now-departed Mario Gómez.
Taking place on either August 27/28, both clubs will have Champions League responsibilities the week before. The second round match is between matches against 1. FC Köln and Eintracht Frankfurt for Bayern and matches against SV Darmstadt 98 and Bayer 04 Leverkusen for Wolfsburg. Here are the full results of the DFB-Pokal second round draw:
