New, comments

Who made the cut?

When one goes about picking a Best XI, it's always smart to go with your system first. Then, you kind of know what direction you want to take the team. For Lothar Matthäus, he decided that a 4-1-3-2 system would best show off the plethora of attacking talent that has graced the Bundesliga over the years.

Here is his team:

Goalkeeper: Oliver Kahn (Sepp Maier, Manuel Neuer)

Right Back: Philipp Lahm (Jorghino, Manni Kaltz)

Left Back: Andreas Brehme (Paul Breitner, Bixente Lizarazu)

Center Backs: Franz Beckenbauer & Karl-Heinz Förster (Hans-Georg Schwarzenbeck, Jürgen Kohler, Lucio)

Defensive Midfield: Bastian Schweinsteiger (Rainer Bonhof)

Attacking Midfield: Günter Netzer (Helmut Haller, Michael Ballack, Wolfgang Overath)

Right Wing: Arjen Robben (Mehmet Scholl, Kevin Keegan)

Left Wing: Jupp Heynckes (Ze Roberto, Franck Ribery, Lothar Emmerich)

Strikers: Gerd Müller & Uwe Seeler (Rudi Völler, Giovane Elber, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge)
