WATCH: Bayern Munich II Win First Match of the Season in Big Way

Weihrauch has his best game of his career, and Kurt bursts onto the scene in his first start.

Needing a win to stay competitive, Bayern Munich II squashed Rain am Lech on Saturday for their first win of the Regionalliga Bayern season. Patrick Weihrauch scored four goals in the match, which matches his goal production from all of last season. Karl-Heinz Lappe, Sinan Kurt, and Milos Pantović also recorded their first goals of the season.

"It excites me that we can take the match spirit we show in training and take it to the match," said head coach Heiko Vogel. "We put in a good performance, created a lot of chances and used some of them. We are on a good path."

Weihrauch, Lappe, and Kurt made up a front three as part of Heiko Vogel's 3-4-3 formation, one that mirrors what the first team did on Sunday in the DFB-Pokal. Weihrauch's first two goals came in large part due to his compatriots, Lappe holding off two players before finding Weihrauch for the first and Kurt picking Weihrauch out for the second. Kurt found Lappe not long after that before helping Weihrauch complete his hat trick in the first half.

Weihrauch fully earned his fourth, finishing a run for is fourth goal of the match before Gerrit Wegkamp eventually relieved him. Kurt added a goal to his hat trick of assists with a goal at the hour mark. Marko Witasek and Giovanni Goia were able to make the result a tad more respectable with late goals, and Milos Pantović squeezed in a goal himself in the interim.

Playing his third straight match was Julian Green, lined up next to fellow professional Gianluca Gaudino in Bayern II's midfield. Yannick Günzel – promoted from the U19 team in the offseason – lined up with Matthias Strohmaier and Philipp Steinhart in defense for his first start with the reserves.

Bayern II will be back at it next Saturday against second place Wacker Burghausen, who is tied with TSV 1860 München II with the third best goals allowed record in the division. The reserves remain 11 points behind soaring Jahn Regensburg, who have yet to lose a match, with two matches in had on most of the teams in the division.
