Javi Martinez saw his 2014-15 season end before it ever began. In the DFL Supercup against Borussia Dortmund, Martinez fell to the field clutching his knee after less than half an hour. He would go on to make one appearance last season for a measly 62 minutes.
Now, nearly one year later, Martinez is ready and raring to go, right? Well, not exactly. Shortly before Bayern Munich kicked off their Audi Summer Tour match against Valencia in Beijing, the club announced that Martinez would not be taking part in the match. Bild snuck a photo of Martinez

Yes, Javi is still dealing with the same knee that has been bothering him for the last year.
Pep Guardiola announced during his press conference from Shanghai on Sunday that Martinez would not be participating in Tuesday's friendly with Inter Milan. While he would love to have Martinez back quickly, Guardiola stressed that at this point, it's not important which game he returns for. The most important thing is his health.
They don't want this to turn into another situation like Holger Badstuber's where he misses two years due to the same injury.
