Bayern Munich Frauen have received a bye in the first round of the 2015-16 DFB Pokal after winning the Bundesliga last season. Wolfsburg, Frankfurt, Potsdam, Essen, Hoffenheim, and Freiburg will also receive a bye to the second round for finishing second through seventh respectively.

The Pokal for the Frauen sees every club that played in the Bundesliga and 2.Bundesliga automatically enter the tournament. The teams that have earned promotion into the 2.Bundesliga from the Regionalligas and the winners of the 21 national cup competitions also automatically get into the Pokal.

For the first time, the first four rounds of the tournament will be played at the home of the lower division club. It is believed that this will help bring in more fans and reduce travel costs for the amateur clubs.

The first round kicks off on August 23.
