The 2014-2015 season has been an incredibly trying season for Franck Ribery. The former Ballon d'Or finalist has only featured in 23 of Bayern Munich's 48 matches to date this season thanks to various injuries. Now, Kicker is reporting that Ribery is likely finished for the final four matches of the season.
Ribery's most recent injury was suffered all the way back on March 11 during Bayern's thrashing of Shakhtar Donetsk. He was expected to only miss three days. Bayern were preparing to enter the most difficult part of the season with Ribery on the field. As of May 7th, Ribery will have been out for 57 days.
His ankle is still bothering him. "I'm very sad. I had big plans. I've worked so hard for a quicker comeback, but my ankle is not getting any better. It pisses me off." With Arjen Robben still on the sideline, FC Bayern have found themselves in quite the bind, especially after Mario Götze's lack of an impact over recent months. Ribery was needed for this late season push, and he never arrived.
If Bayern don't turn around the three goal deficit in their Champions League tie with Barcelona, FCB only have four matches remaining in the season. Perhaps a summer without a major international tournament where the players an all relax is just what is needed for this group of players.
