Going into Matchday 31, Bayern Munich visit the BayArena for a date with Roger Schmidt's Bayer Leverkusen. For a fixture that should be full of pomp, circumstance, and two of Europe's most dynamic coaches, this will unfortunately likely be a tepid affair.
Last weekend, Bayern Munich clinched their third straight Bundesliga trophy after defeating Hertha BSC 1-0 and their closest challengers, VfL Wolfsburg, lost to Borussia Mönchengladbach. But it was disastrous midweek loss to Borussia Dortmund in the DFB Pokal that has come to define this week for Bayern Munich.
With a massive midweek clash against FC Barcelona and the title clinched, this will likely be a reserve heavy fixture from Bayern Munich and one in which they give their depth prospects a chance to stretch their wings. And there is potentially no better match in which to do that. Roger Schmidt's Leverkusen side play high-tempo ultra pressing soccer and it's a crash course in how to play at some of the highest and most physical levels. What better learning environment for the likes of SInan Kurt, Gianluca Gaudino, or Mitchell Weiser?
Once the lineups are released, this thread will be updated.
