Bayern Munich crushed Herforder 6-0 on Sunday to keep their grasp on second place in the Bundesliga with only one match remaining in the season. FC Bayern dispatched of the soon-to-be-relegated Herforder with a barrage of goals in the second half of the match.

Playing the team at the bottom of the table allowed head coach Thomas Wörle to sit captain Melanie Behringer and start Japanese international Mana Iwabuchi. Behringer is sitting on four yellow cards, and a fifth would see her suspended for the final match.

Bayern controlled the match early, and a pair of goals from Gina Lewandowski and Vivianne Miedema in the 21 and 23 minutes put the Bavarians in front. FCB weren't able to add to their total by the end of the half, but they finished with 12 shots.

The second half was nothing but shooting practice for Bayern. Raffaella Manieri scored her first Bundesliga goal, and Lena Lotzen added her first goal since returning from injury. Caroline Abbé and Katie Stengel knocked in goals in the 82 and 85th minute to complete the 6-0 route.

With only one match remaining in the Frauen Bundesliga season, the title race is wide open. Wolfsburg top the table with 53 points, while Bayern Munich and FFC Frankfurt trail with 52 and 51 points respectively. On the final matchday in the league, first place Wolfsburg visit third place Frankfurt, and FC Bayern will host fifth place Essen. The top two teams in the Bundesliga qualify for the Women's Champions League, so FC Bayern likely need a positive result to ensure they find their way to Europe next year.
