Sebastian Rode's peach of a goal nominated for Goal of the Week

Sebastian Rode's strike to opening the scoring against Hoffenheim faces tough competition in this weeks' Goal of the Week voting

Sebastian Rode's goal on Saturday to open the scoring against Hoffenheim as Bayern rolled to a 2-0 win over Marcus Gisdol's side was a thing of beauty. After a cutback from Lewandowski, the Pole fed Rode who took a deft touch and then curled his shot over 3 defenders and the goalkeeper into the top corner. It was a great piece of skill from the young German.

Rode has had an interesting break-in season at Bayern Munich. Seemingly far down the depth chart, Rode has managed to secure a significant amount of minutes as he's developed from an midfielder with an attacking style box-to-box bent to become a well-rounded excellent midfielder the likes of which Pep Guardiola loves. This goal was just the highlight from one of the best game's Rode has played this season.

This week though, Rode's chances at winning are up in the air as he's up against a plethora of equally stunning goals. Leroy Sane's sprint and dribble through the entire Wolfsburg defense is up for the award as well as Tobias Werner's shot that more resembles a move you'd pull in a game of pool then a football match. Freiburg's Admir Mehmedi put in a similar goal to Rode with a quick inside turn and then a blast into the far corner, however given the fact that he didn't score his goal in congested traffic like Rode puts the Bayern's goal head and shoulders above.

Rounding out the list of nominees is Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's goal for Dortmund. I have no idea why it's nominated. It's pretty ordinary.
