Bayern Munich vs. FC Porto, Champions League: Post-match awards and player ratings

Bayern now are in jeopardy of being eliminated from European competition after a tough 3-1 loss which did not see a lot of standout performances from Die Roten.

Tip Of The Cap - Thiago Alcantara: Not many Bayern players played particularly well. Thiago was not only the least bad player on the pitch for Bayern, he actually played fairly well. He managed to score a goal to bring Bayern back to within 1 goal in the 28th minute and overall, was strong from box to box. Among midfielders, he has the most completed passes, which is the thinnest of silver linings for him. Had he had any form of support on the attack, his rating would have been much higher

Golf Clap - Yacine Brahimi: Porto seemed to content to wait for their opportunity to counter attack Bayern to death. Brahimi was a big part of that. He had seven successful dribbles and linked up well with his fellow attacking wings, waiting for his opportunity to pounce, and pounce he did. He terrorized Bayern's back line and played a big role in Porto's win. A very strong game for the 25 year old Algerian international.

Standing Ovation - Casemiro:The 23 year old Brazilian Center Mid stymied Bayern's attack in the final third all game long. He had a big hand in organizing the Porto defense which limited Bayern to a measly three shots on goal. He had a team high seven interceptions and also led his team in tackles as well. He had the kind of game that you probably wouldn't notice from watching the game, but he was everywhere for Porto and was absolutely key for them.

Meister Of The Match - Ricardo Quaresma: The 31 year old forward had a brace against one of the best teams in Europe. That alone would be good enough for the Meister, but Quaresma did a lot in this game. He completed 85% of his passes and led his team in crosses as well as shots on target. Porto didn't have a lot of possession in this match, but what they did have, they seemed to make the most of it. Quaresma was the biggest reason why. In a game where Porto needed it's biggest players to step up big, nobody did it better than Quaresma.
