Robert Lewandowski wonderstrike leads Goal of the Week nominees

Robert Lewandowkis faces competition from Jonas Hector in this week's Goal of the Week voting while Thomas Müller hangs on as an also-ran.

Robert Lewandowski was a beast on Saturday notching a brace and leading Bayern Munich to a 3-0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt. Beyond just his general performance in this match, it was the spin-turn laser blast that Lewandowski uncorked in the first half that had everyone talking. It was easily a Goal of the Week candidate and the judges haven't disappointed in nominating it.

Thomas Müller's late third goal was also nominated as he chased down a difficult bouncing ball before firing a tight angle finish through two defenders but there is no chance that it beats the astounding goal from his teammate.

The challengers to Lewandowski start with Hakan Calhanoglu's free kick into the top corner. While those goals are very impressive, we've seen Calhanoglu uncork so many of those over the last two seasons that if he doesn't do it, you're surprised rather then the other way around. He won't win. Valentin Stocker's side volley through traffic was a great goal, but from a degree of difficulty prespective it doesn't touch the Pole's goal.

If anyone has a shot at upsetting this week's award, it's Jonas Hector who has a decent shout. The Köln midfielder made a solo slalom run through 5 defenders before his near post shot (which was likely going in) was deflected into the far corner. Despite the quality of Hector's dribble though, that goal has a pretty glaring concern that might mitigate it: namely the Hoffenheim defense which attempts to re-define the term bad most matchdays.
