WATCH: Bayern Munich II Come Back Twice to Beat Illertissen

Steinhart and Wegkamp both equalize for Bayern's reserves in the first half before Görtler earns his side a valuable three points in the second.

For the second week in a row, Bayern Munich II won by a narrow margin to defeat fourth place Illertissen on Saturday. The victory keeps them within arms length of Würzburger Kickers for the promotional playoff spot in the Regionalliga Bayern.

The kleine Bayern came up with two quick responses – one from Philipp Steinhart off of a long throw in and one from Gerrit Wegkamp from a corner – to remain level with Illertissen in the first half. Lukas Görtler found the winner early in the second, and Erik ten Hag's team were able to hold on for their 15th victory of the season. Wegkamp and Görtler remain among the scoring leaders collecting their 13th and ninth Regionalliga goals respectively.

Their victory, in conjunction with Würzburg's 1-0 victory against TSV 1860 München II, moved the Bayern reserves into second place in the Regionalliga Bayern, but still 11 points away from the top. They may have an opportunity to close the gap on Thursday as they take on bottom feeders Seligporten and Würzburg plays Augsburg II.
