Bastian Schweinsteiger opened the scoring in Bayern Munich's 4-1 win over FC Köln with a thunderous header just minutes into the match. it was one of those those headers that launched off his forehead like a Polaris missile leaving the water -- a rare perfect header that comes once in a blue moon. It's now up for the Bundesliga Goal of the Week.
Not to be outdone though, Franck Ribery added to Bayern Munich's tally later in the first half after pulling off a wonderful cut into the middle and rifling a shot. That shot went near post at an almost impossible angle, through traffic, and left Timo Horn with nothing to do besides stand there and watch Ribery and Bayern celebrate. The technical skill and ability displayed on that goal has left it nominated for the Bundesliga Goal of the Week.
Rounding out the other nominees are Henrik Mkhitaryan, Maxi Arnold, and Franco Di Santo. Mkhitaryan scored his first league goal of the season in Dortmund's 3-0 pasting of Schalke 04 with a sliding snag of an Ilkay Gundogan cross at full speed. Maxi Arnold scored a diving header after Kevin de Bruyne made one of the most astounding and impressive crosses you're likely to see in global football this year, while Franco Di Santo pounded home a leaping in-step volley to beat Diego Benaglio.
