Willy Sagnol talks to FCB.tv about his return to Bayern Munich

Sagnol joined a collection of French coaches in Munich this week to study under Pep Guardiola.

Former Bayern Munich defender and current Bordeaux head coach Willy Sagnol return to Munich this week with a delegation of coaches from France for some coaching knowledge as they continue their quest for their UEFA coaching badges.

Bayern sold Diego Contento to Bordeaux over the summer but kept 50% of his rights. Contento has played himself into the starting left back at the club and is helping them as they fight for a spot in next season's Europa League. You can stay up to date with Contento's and Sagnol's exploits with Bordeaux in the loan updates like this.

Sagnol won a plethora of trophies in Munich including the Bundesliga five times, the DFB Pokal four times, the UEFA Champions League, and the Intercontinental Cup once. If you don't remember Sagnol, you should know that he was a really good player for FC Bayern.

Willy Sagnol, welcome to FC Bayern. What is like coming back to this club, to your club?

It's not my club, but it is the club. It's great to be back here, with beautiful weather, at the club that I spent two thirds of my footballing career with. It's simply fantastic. A lot of great memories - I saw a lot of familiar faces yesterday. It's been good fun.

What's the reason behind your visit?

We're getting our UEFA coaching license in France at the moment. The course is a little different than it is in Germany. We're doing three days a month and moving around a lot. We were in Madrid. Now, we're in Munich. We'll be going to Turin, and we also went to Bruges and Marseille. We gain a lot of experience by visiting clubs.

Did you watch training today?

Yes, Guardiola's training sessions are always very interesting.

What did you see?

The main focus today was on reacting quickly after losing the ball. It's an important issue that every coach wants to find a solution for.

Do you still follow FC Bayern regularly? In the Champions League, too? Do you watch games on television?

Watching the Bundesliga in France is difficult. Of course, I follow the Champions League, and I was over the moon after the final against Dortmund two years ago in London. I hope Bayern will be in the final this year, too.

So, your heart still beats for FC Bayern?

Yes, 100 percent.

Thank you, Willy Sangol.

My pleasure.
