Robert Lewandowski nominated for Bundesliga Player of the Week for Matchday 25

A two goal performance sees the striker considered for the award.

After this two goal performance against Werder Bremen at the weekend, Robert Lewandowski has been nominated for the Bundesliga Player of the Week for Matchday 25. While neither of his goals were highlight reel worthy like the ones from Thomas Müller or David Alaba, they were both well taken for the Bayern Munich man.

While one might have expected Müller to get the nod for FC Bayern, looking at the poll on Bundesliga.com, it appears that Lewandowski is going to run away with the award.

His competition includes Wolfsburg's Kevin De Bruyne who led Die Wölfe to a 3-0 victory over Freiburg. De Bruyne collected a goal, an assist, and drew a penalty in the match. He's really come into his own this season and looks like he's going to challenge Arjen Robben for the Bundesliga Player of the Year award.

The third member of the trio is Borussia Mönchengladbach's Patrick Herrmann. He scored both goals in Gladbach's 2-0 victory over Hannover and helped push the club five points clear of fifth place Schalke in the table. Gladbach has slowly built this squad over the last few seasons and now have the Champions league in their sights.
