Mehdi Benatia removed at halftime amidst injury concerns

Mehdi Benatia has once again gotten himself injured

Mehdi Benatia can't catch a break. His Bayern Munich career has been plagued by chronic injury. From his hamstrings to his groin to his back and back to his hamstrings, he seems to be injured every six weeks. And for a defender who came in touted as one of the best in Europe, and on a very expensive transfer and wage bill to boot, it's been a frustrating experience for Bayern Munich. And that frustration is likely going to continue.

The Moroccan international was removed from Bayern Munich's match against Dinamo Zagred at halftime after being unable to finish the first half. Benatia spent the waning minutes of the half on the sidelines with his boots removed, clutching at his hamstring. He was promptly substituted at the half.

While the club has not released a diagnosis yet, or whether Benatia will miss more time due to injury, given his track record it's probably a fairly safe bet to say he won't be appearing until after the the New Year for Bayern Munich. On the fan side of things, given the injury track record of Holger Badstuber and Javi Martinez the last two years as well, we might want to start mentally preparing ourselves to see the estranged Jan Kirchhoff in defense soon.
