Sebastian Rode could very well be on the move away from Bayern Munich this winter, according to multiple reports. This news comes despite Rode's recent declaration that he was not planning on leaving FC Bayern anytime soon. However, interest exists from other top Bundesliga clubs.
Reports have listed both Bayer Leverkusen and Schalke 04 as being interested in luring the midfielder away from Munich as early as this winter. Both clubs currently sit outside the top four and are looking for ways to strengthen their squad for a push in the second half of the season.
The difference between the two clubs being that Leverkusen are looking for a full transfer in the range of €8-10 million, while Schalke are only interested in a loan deal. Bayern already have one player on loan at Schalke in Pierre Hojbjerg.
Bayern are also reportedly interested in extending Rode's current contract that runs through 2018, according to Kicker. It remains to be seen if there is any legitimacy to any of these claims. One thing is for certain, however, and that is that Rode's long term future is up the air.
