Bayern Munich used first half goals to down FFC Frankfurt 2-0 in the Round of 16 in the DFB Pokal. The win over Frankfurt was the second in a week, as Bayern downed them to move six points clear at the top of the Bundesliga.
Both goals for FCB came in the first half on great strikes from Vivianne Miedema and Melanie Behringer.
Miedema's goal came in the 14th minute on a throw-in. She let the ball run into the box and muscled off a defender before ripping a shot toward goal. The shot's placement left Frankfurt goalkeeper Desirée Schumann without a chance at the save.
As Frankfurt though they were going to escape into halftime only down one goal, FCB had other ideas. Miedema's cross found Nicole Rolser in the box. She expertly held the ball up before laying it off for the captain. Behringer struck a laser from just outside the box into the far corner to give Bayern the 2-0 lead.
Frankfurt didn't offer a lot going forward during the match, and their first scoring chance came in the 55th minute. However, it wasn't enough to beat Tinja-Riikka Korpela in the Bayern net.
The next round of the DFB Pokal takes place on December 9. Bayern will return to the field on November 15 in the Bundesliga against SC Sand.
