Bayern Munich and Schalke will take to the field at the Veltins Arena in Gelsenkirchen on Saturday afternoon with the hopes of putting behind a very sad week across Europe behind them. For FC Bayern, the match also represents an opportunity for them to go eight points clear the top of the table.
While it seemed that Pep Guardiola was going to have a lot of options at his disposal with Arjen Robben returning from injury and the squad being healthy, Thiago Alcantara had to go get injured while on international duty with Spain. Pep still has enough great players that Bayern shouldn't miss too big of a beat, but Thiago has proven his immense importance to Bayern over recent weeks. His loss will be felt.
As mentioned earlier, Borussia Dortmund's loss to Hamburg on Friday evening means that a big opportunity to stretch out their lead is available for FC Bayern. Three points against Schalke means that FCB will be eight points ahead of BVB in the table.
Once the lineups are released, this thread will be updated.
