Jan Kirchhoff has yet to play a minute for Bayern Munich this season, and it appears that he will never again suit up for the first team. The defender has been relegated by Pep Guardiola to the reserves until the winter break, according to Kicker.
Kirchhoff has only been on Bayern's bench for five matches this season. While he didn't return from an injury until October, Guardiola has never seemed to be enchanted by what Kirchhoff offers FCB. He just returned to the club in July after a year and a half long loan with Schalke.
It is expected that Bayern will try to move Kirchhoff this winter instead of just letting him walk on a free over the summer. There will be suitors for Kirchhoff, as long as Bayern's transfer demand isn't high.
The 25 year old could very well make his debut for FCB II this weekend in the derby against 1860 II. While the reserves are very clearly a step down for Kirchhoff, he will be able to get in some much needed match practice before any transfer.
