Bayern Munich put together another solid performance and beat SC Sand 2-0. The victory keeps them well in front in first place in the Bundesliga, The Bavarians need to continue to build their lead at the top of the table with only four matches remaining until the winter break.
FCB struck first just eleven minutes into the game. With a free kick just inside Bayern's attacking half, Melanie Behringer launched the ball into the Sand penalty area. Gina Lewandowski was left unmarked in the box, and the American powered her header past Kristina Kober in the Sand goal.
Five minutes later, Bayern doubled their lead. Caroline Abbe played a through-ball into the area, and Lisa Evans was fouled by Chioma Igwe for a penalty. Behringer would step up for the penalty, and while Kober was able to get a hand to the ball, it still went into the goal for the 2-0 lead.
The remainder of the match saw Bayern earn better opportunities than Sand, even though the visitors tried to ramp up the pressure. The opportunities came in bunches for Bayern, but Kober was up to the challenge in Sand's goal to keep the Bavarians at bay.
Bayern now sit six points clear of second place Wolfsburg and nine points clear of three other teams in third place. They'll be back on the field on Friday away to Bayer Leverkusen.
