Mario Gotze had to leave Germany's qualifier for the UEFA European Championship with an injury. The Germany national team have not yet confirmed what the nature of the injury is.

Götze landed awkwardly after colliding with the Republic of Ireland's James McCarthy near the end of the first half while both were trying to win the ball. The German then called for the training staff holding his groin, and he limped to the sideline to be examined. Wolfsburg's André Schürrle came on to replace him a few minutes later.

Bayern Munich have an unfortunate record with injuries in the international break. David Alaba injured his knee while playing for Austria in March, and Arjen Robben is still nursing a groin injury he suffered with the Netherlands in early September.
