We recently reported on the rumored Xherdan Shaqiri transfer to Juventus and how Sky Germany said that it was close to a done deal. Now, less than a week later, reports out of Italy are conflicted in what the Bianconeri are planning.
How conflicting are they? Well, these new reports say that Juventus are no longer interested in Shaqiri.
Shaqiri: now only Inter and Liverpool #LFC in the race. Next week new meetings. No more Juventus, trying for Sneijder with Galatasaray #Gala
— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) January 3, 2015
Then, there's this from Gianluca DiMarzio's David Amoyal.
Wesley Sneijder is Juve's top target in the January transfer window. ... At this point, Juve is out of the race for the Swiss international.
All of this corroborates new stories from The Guardian and Sky Italia regarding Shaqiri's future destination. The English say that Liverpool are now the front runners, because they're the only ones that are willing to buy Shaqiri outright in January. The Italians say that Inter Milan are leading the chase with the loan deal with an option to buy.
Shaqiri's true destination remains an unknown, and it very well could still be Juventus. The rumors are going to come hot and heavy over the next few weeks. Be ready.
