Klaas-Jan Huntelaar Sees Red, Will Miss Schalke's Trip to Bayern

An ill-advised tackle will force him off the team sheet in Schalke's critical match against Bayern.

Even when Schalke 04 wins 1-0, they still lose.

With just minutes before full time, Klaas-Jan Huntelaar slides through Manuel Schmiedebach from behind. Who knows if the Netherlands international was trying to win the ball, which was probably two meters away or just simply take out Schmiedebach. Referee Sascha Stegemann apparently saw enough ill-intent, and decided to send off Huntelaar with a straight red.

Not the best decision from Huntelaar to say the least. He will have to watch Schalke's match against Bayern Munich on Tuesday from either in a seat in the Allianz Arena crowd or at home on his television. It is just the second time in his career he has seen a straight red card, and his fifth sending off as a footballer.

Huntelaar has 10 goals in all competitions this season for Schalke, including seven in the Bundesliga. In his absence, Roberto Di Matteo may have to rely on Eric-Maxim Choupo Moting to lead the line on his own.
