Bayern Munich II pick up fourth straight win

After a poor run earlier in the season, Bayern Munich II are making progress up the table.

Bayern Munich II won their fourth straight game on Sunday to pull within 8 points of the Regionalliga Bayern lead. After only winning two of their first eight games, the current stretch has certainly come as a relief to coach Erik ten Hag who has had the task of losing all of his best players and integrating a lot of new faces in a short amount of time.

Of course, it was Gerrit Wegkamp that opened the scoring for FCBII. The forward scored his eighth goal of the season in the 23rd minute. The goal was a just reward for Bayern, as Patrick Weihrauch and Lukas Görtler had forced the Garching goalkeeper into a few nice saves.

Then, ten minutes later, this happened.

Ylli Sallahi made it 2-0 with that impressive display of skill.

Garching would pull one back on a penalty just before halftime to make it 2-1. Captain Stefan Buck fouled Stefan Prunitsch, and Mike Niebbauer scored the resulting spot kick.

The newly promoted side tried to push for an equalizer in the second half, but FCBII was very organized in defense and kept them from gaining any real chances. Both Wegkamp and Buck just missed opportunities back to back in the 60th and 61st minute to put Bayern's lead back to two goals.

Ten Hag's team stayed the course for the remainder of the second half and notched their sixth win of the campaign. The reserves will next take the field on Friday against Greuther Fürth II.
