Bayern Munich invited VfB Stuttgart to the Allianz Arena on Saturday afternoon and handily beat them 2-0 in the third match of the Bundesliga campaign. Aside from the injury scare to Holger Badstuber (Holger is ok!), (Update: Sadface) the match can be seen as a success across the board.
This week, we're going to take a different approach on our player ratings and man of the match voting. At the suggestion of a commenter here at BFW, we're going to allow the community to do their player ratings before we post who we think the man of the match was. This will allow all of you to vote without our pick for man of the match influencing your decisions.
There were some standout performances on the day, starting with Xabi Alonso. The Spaniard was once again a midfield general for FC Bayern on the day. Mario Götze took the first step in getting back into form with a well taken goal in the first half, and Franck Ribery marked his return with a goal.
